The move to the Playhouse Square District presents opportunities to support the firm’s continued growth while expanding the organizations’ longstanding partnership
CLEVELAND, OH – December 6, 2022 – Dix & Eaton announced today that it has signed a lease agreement with Playhouse Square to relocate its Cleveland office to a 22,000-square-foot space on the 8th and 9th floors of the Bulkley Building, located at 1501 Euclid Avenue.
The move to Playhouse Square’s high-energy, creative campus will offer significant benefits for the firm, including the ability to design a welcoming new space that meets the firm’s needs for a collaborative work environment, with potential for increased marketing opportunities in one of Cleveland’s thriving and attractive districts. The move also further solidifies the longstanding relationship between the two organizations.
“We want to have a physical space that reflects both the current needs of our business and our people, while also being flexible to future shifts in technology and next-gen work environments,” said Dix & Eaton CEO Chas Withers. “When we identified the opportunity to join Playhouse Square’s campus and further our connection with the organization, we jumped at the chance. We have a long and proud history working with Playhouse Square to bring about progress in enriching our city. Our founder, Henry Eaton, served on Playhouse Square’s Board during a pivotal point in its emergence as one of Cleveland’s essential arts and cultural civic institutions and chaired the Board at one point. Our Executive Chairman, Scott Chaikin, currently sits on the Board, working to advance its impact in the community today.”
“Like many organizations, the pandemic has had a profound effect on transitioning us to more of a hybrid work environment, while also reinforcing the critical need for us to have a place to gather in-person to collaborate, problem solve and do the strategic and creative partnering that has been at our core for 70 years. When we saw a chance to build out a new home for our team in this vibrant, creative and arts-rich neighborhood, we made an exciting decision to relocate down the street.”
Following the renovation of its historic theaters in the 1970s, Playhouse Square turned its attention to developing the surrounding neighborhood into a 24/7 destination through the creation of its real estate services division. With a goal of creating an exciting place to live, work and play, the area is now known as the Playhouse Square District.
In addition to Playhouse Square’s world-renowned theaters, the District is now home to the Crowne Plaza Cleveland Hotel, The Lumen apartments, the Idea Center, and various dining establishments and office buildings. The District’s expansion has allowed the organization to realize its not-for-profit mission of attracting Clevelanders to the area for a variety of reasons.
“Our central location in the city, diverse mix of leading Cleveland companies and institutions, and proximity to a number of downtown landmarks and hospitality destinations have spurred an infusion of business into our footprint. We are elated that Dix & Eaton will be further enriching the District as a new tenant and look forward to the contributions they will bring to the neighborhood,” said Playhouse Square CEO and President Gina Vernaci.
Dix & Eaton’s current lease at 200 Public Square runs through April 2025, and the organization is presently evaluating the timeline options for its relocation.
